Oneida Community Mansion House and Museum is a National Historic Landmark. From 1848-1880 it was a religious-centered Utopian commune whose 300 members shared all aspects of their lives and work. The home is 93,000 square feet and is an architectural marvel!
When the commune disbanded in 1880, due to both internal and external pressures, the owners went on to achieve world-wide recognition for the Oneida Tableware it produced in Sherrill, New York. Today the Mansion House is also a museum – presenting educational programs, interesting tours, exhibits, and overnight lodging.
