Sunday Brunch and a Walk in the Park
World Famous Tavern on the Green
When visiting New York City, there’s no better way to spend a Sunday Afternoon than having Sunday Brunch in Central Park at this iconic restaurant. Tavern on the Green has been a New York staple since 1934. After a short hiatus from 2009-2014, the restaurant reopened after a $38 million renovation from new owners Jim Cailoa and David Salma. Today the restaurant features warm celebratory open dining spaces with rich interior, a large courtyard and bar for dining alfresco and a menu that features American fare created by Executive Chef Bill Peet.
Sunday Brunch is still a favorite for visitors and New Yorkers alike. Consider planning the perfect day by experiencing Central Park before or after brunch; the restaurant is a short 15 minute leisurely stroll or relaxing carriage ride from Strawberry Fields, Central Park Carousel, and Bethesda Terrace that overlooks The Lake.
Begin brunch with their famous Bellini to set the mood for what is to follow. Spectacular entrees from the a-la-carte menu includes; BRIOCHE FRENCH TOAST – 2 Extra Thick pieces dipped in their special egg wash then grilled and topped with strawberry compote, vanilla whipped cream and candied almonds; AVOCADO POACHED EGGS – 2 Poached Eggs, on a toasted English muffin, topped chunky fresh avocado and Cilantro pesto; BAKED VEGETABLE FRITTATA – Made with Parmesan Cheese and served with Fingerling Potatoes, and Roasted Tomato Vinaigrette. Don’t miss ordering a side of the extra thick cut Tavern Maple Brown Sugar Bacon!
