Nelson’s Green Brier Distillery • Nashville

With roots dating back to 1860 when Charles Nelson first recognized his grocery store’s exorbitantly high demand for whiskey, Nelson’s Green Brier Distillery was revived after 100 years of inactivity by three great-grandsons of the original founder.

While the grain house, barrel warehouse stand, and original spring in Greenbrier are listed under the National Register of Historic Places and are worth visiting in their own right, the resurrected company’s Nashville location offers historic and informative walking tours of the production floor and tasting room every half hour, seven days a week. Visit and learn about Tennessee whiskey from these historians and purveyors of spirits.
