Amtrak Promotes “Sizzling Summer Sale”

Travel between Tuesday, July 6 and Thursday, Sept. 30, 2021.

While airline fares seem to be climbing, Amtrak is offering customers the opportunity to save up to 35 percent on their summer travel plans with its latest promotion, the “Sizzling Summer Sale.” Available on most trains throughout the national network for coach and Acela Business class only.

“The Sizzling Summer Sale allows our customers to travel across the country and experience the summer in a variety of ways, all while spending less on train tickets,” said Roger Harris, Amtrak’s executive vice president and chief marketing and revenue officer. “Whether it’s to see friends and family, experience a summer musical festival or baseball game, explore a new city or old favorite, have an outdoor biking or hiking adventure or relax at a beach, Amtrak can help our customers with a safe and relaxing way to travel.”

During this promotion, customers are able to purchase one-way tickets in either direction for some low fares. Although fares may vary, in the northeast, Washington, D.C. to New York City is $45 on a Northeast Regional train and $90 on the Acela, Boston to New York City is $45 on a Northeast Regional train and $72 on the Acela, Philadelphia to New York City is $24 on a Northeast Regional train and $57 on the Acela, and Washington, D.C. to Philadelphia is $24 on a Northeast Regional train and $64 on the Acela. On the west coast, one-way tickets from Portland to Seattle are $23, Washington to Chicago are $68, Lorton to Sanford are $75 plus the cost of a vehicle on the Auto Train, Chicago to Denver are $81, Los Angeles to Seattle are $82 and New York City to Miami are $105.

This offer is not combinable with any other discount offer and upgrades are not permitted. The sale is not available on Pennsylvanian/Keystone, San Joaquins, and Capitol Corridor trains and 7000-8999 Thruways. Once purchased, sales are not refundable, but exchanges are permitted prior to scheduled departure. A 25 percent cancellation fee may apply. Fares are subject to availability and may not be available on all trains at all times. Fares, routes and schedules are subject to change without notice. Once travel has begun no changes to the itinerary are permitted. Other restrictions may apply.
