A Bourbon to Discover in Florida

I have been a Bourbon aficionado for many years, savoring America’s nectar of the gods. I have made my pilgrimage to the Bourbon Trail in Kentucky, which I highly recommend to Bourbon lovers and those interested in educating themselves.

As of today, I have amassed most of the selections on the “Bourbon Bucket List” – an incredible resource of Bourbons one must taste in one’s lifetime. And yes, I have owned and tasted “Pappy”. So it came as a surprise on a recent trip to St. Augustine, the oldest continuous colonial inhabitation in the United States, to find a fabulous Bourbon distillery.

Using only local products, the St. Augustine Distillery Company is producing not only Bourbon, but also rum, gin, and vodka. Owned by 20 local families and situated in the oldest ice house in America, this facility is open to the public for tours and a little sip.

I had the pleasure of participating in both and of course supported the local economy by purchasing their Bourbons and other Bourbon-infused products; their honey is delectable!

The company is committed to sustainability and the preservation of history; sourcing locally and restoring their location (housed in the original he Historic FP&L Ice Plant). Don’t forget to stop by when visiting St. Augustine.
