Claridge’s Hotel • Mayfair, london

Claridge’s is one of London’s most famed 5-star hotels.  Set in the heart of Mayfair, the 203-room hotel is known for its elegance and top service. It began its life in 1856, immediately attracted royal notice and has always been favored by Britain’s royals. Its iconic Art Deco features include vintage furniture that once decorated the staterooms if the SS Normandie. It combines its deco heritage with the flair of some of today’s most noted modern designers – recently the Queen’s nephew, David Linley, was commissioned to design a series of the hotel’s rooms.

In proper homage to Empress Eugenie of France – who entertained Queen Victoria in her quarters at Claridge’s – The Empress Eugenie Suite has all the royal trappings of Claridge’s royal history, delicate silks, velvet, and elaborate tasseling details.

Davies and Brooks, the fine dining restaurant, is headed up by Chef Daniel Humm and Will Guidara, co-owners of Eleven Madison Park in New York, winner of the No. 1 spot on the “World’s 50 Best Restaurants” in 2017.  Breakfast, lunch, or tea are served in the Foyer and Reading Room, as well as classic cocktails with surprisingly inventive twists.  For champagnes and cocktails stylishly served, there’s no place like the famous Claridge’s Bar, but for a quiet drink pre-theater or after dinner, The Fumoir is the place to discreetly hide away.
