Natural History Museum • Kensington & Hyde Park

The Natural History Museum is a kids’ delight, with architecture right out of Hogwarts, but adults love it too. Richard Owen, the museum’s first superintendent, referred to it as a “cathedral to nature.”

A Dinosaurs Gallery features an animatronic Tyrannosaurus Rex, and treasures in the Cadogan Gallery exhibits include a Darwin Center with a first edition of On the Origin of Species. The new look of Hintze Hall, unveiled in 2017, features a Mammals & Blue Whale Gallery with a dramatic, diving blue whale

The museum tripled its wildlife garden, adding a geological and paleontological timeline walk. In summer, a tunnel tent on the East Lawn swarms with butterflies, and in winter, the ice rink by the east lawn is filled with skaters.
