The Old South Church first gathered in May 1669. In the past 350 years the church has taken bold stances, seeking out justice, looking for mercy. It was the church of Benjamin Franklin, Samuel Adams, Phillis Wheatley and even hosted meetings with the Boston Tea Party. Built during America’s Gilded age, the church is one of the US’s finest examples of Northern Italian Ruskinian Gothic. Today’s congregation is determined to keep the doors open, seven days a week, providing a sanctuary to anyone and everyone in the city.
