The Lowe Art Museum is the largest collecting art museum in the South Florida region, and one of the few in Florida with a far-ranging general collection. From its inception in the 1950s, its mission has been to serve the University of Miami as a teaching resource, and to serve the residents of Miami as a general art museum. The Lowe’s diverse permanent collection reflects Miami’s multicultural population. The Lowe maintains 11 collecting departments, with resources for engaging with contemporary culture through 5,000 years of human creativity.
