Towles Court Artist Colony • Sarasota

A visit to Towles Court Artist Colony is a step back in time. In 1905 Sarasota’s first mayor, John Gillespie, built a home and a nine-hole golf course on the land that is now Laurel Park. The course, which gave Links Ave. its name, survived well into the 1920’s until it was transformed by William Towles into a small residential neighborhood for professional people and seasonal residents.

In the early 1990’s the area was developed into a bona-fide artists’ colony. Today there are artist’s studios, galleries, restaurants, and much more to be discovered when you Stroll Towles.

Artist studios and galleries host monthly art walks every third Friday of the month.
