Café du Monde • NOLA

There are certain staples every visitor to New Orleans must try and Café Du Monde has been providing millions of visitors and locals with one of those staples since 1862. Along with their much-loved Beignets, the “original French Market coffee stand” offers roasted coffee and chicory served black or Au Lait, white and chocolate milk, fresh squeezed orange juice, and soft drinks. Beignets are fluffy pieces of fried dough covered with powdered sugar, served in orders of three, and worth the calories.

The menu isn’t huge but well worth a visit and the cafe is open 24 hours, 7 days a week and only closes on Christmas. Although there’s usually a wait to be seated, Café Du Monde is a must. A mail order department can ship their signature coffee, beignet mix, and gift items.
