The Tate Britain • West End, London

This is the older of London’s two Tate Museums, this one celebrating British works from 1500 to the present. Works include those from Blake Hogath Gainsborough, Whistle, Barbara Hepwith and contemporaries such as Lucian Freud, Francis Bacon, and Henry Moore. 300 oil paintings and 30,000 sketches and drawings bequeathed by JMW Turner celebrate his work, with The Scarlet Sunset and Norham Castle, Sunrise stealing the show.
