Few state parks are quite as unique as Indian Key Historic State Park in Islamorada. This special park sits on an island, accessible only by boat. It dates back to 1836 and once served as a shipwreck salvaging yard. Visitors who make the trip to the island will find hiking trails, historic ruins, plaques detailing the island’s history, fantastic fishing, kayaking and snorkeling opportunities. The Indian Key Historic State Park gives those visiting the area the chance to get away from it all and explore a little Florida nature and history.
