Founded in 1791, Albany Institute of History and Art is museum is one of the oldest in the United States. The museum and library holdings form the best collections in the United States, documenting the life and culture of our Upper Hudson Valley region from the late seventeenth century to present day.

The rooms are filled with paintings, furnishings, personal objects, historic papers, as well as long term exhibits such as “Ancient Egypt” & “Traders and Culture.” The Albany Institute’s educational outreach programs serve 10,000 students, teachers, and families every year. The grounds also include a museum shop and café with lighter fare.
