The Park Plaza Hotel in Winter Park, Florida is a charming boutique hotel with a rich history and many unique features. The hotel is ideally-located; nestled in the corner of Park Avenue and New England Ave, right in the heart of charming downtown Winter Park, within walking distance of shops, restaurants, and cultural attractions. HISTORY: The city of Winter Park was originally developed in the late 1800’s as a winter resort for wealthy Northerners seeking refuge from harsh winters. Built in 1922 by architect Peter C. Samwell, the hotel lobby is still a snapshot of vintage elegance. Originally the Hamilton Hotel, the Park Plaza Hotel became so after being purchased by the Spang family 40 years ago, and undergoing a major renovation in the late 1970’s. This hotel was the first in Winter Park to have a private bathroom with each guest room!

TODAY:  Park Plaza Hotel’s design is a perfect example of Mediterranean Revival. Upon entering the hotel you’ll be swift back in time – the elegant tiled lobby features a massive fireplace; ornate stained glass window panes; a hand-carved, dark wood reception desk; multi-spaces to relax in cozy furniture,  an original brass door elevator made by the Jackson elevator company.  In 2022 the Spank family celebrated their 45th anniversary of owning and operating the Park Plaza Hotel and the hotel celebrated its hundredth year since inception. it is the oldest continuously operating business in Winter Park.
