Mississippi River and Woldenberg Park • NOLA

The Mississippi River is a massive waterway and part of its 2,320 miles runs through Louisiana. Its path includes the vibrant city of New Orleans and the popular French Quarter, which sits on the north side of the river along the famous crescent that gives the city its nickname, the Crescent City.

Because the river has such historical significance to the people of New Orleans the city has done much in the way of turning it into a focal point for visitors and locals. Today, nearby Woldenberg Park provides a point from which to enjoy the river and festivals, such as the annual French Quarter Festival, held to bring tourists to the banks of the Mississippi.
