Baglio Oneto dei Principi di San Lorenzo – Wine Resort is a charming, 5-star luxury resort, set upon the hillside above Trapani and Marsala. The Sicilian term ‘baglio’ refers to the hotel’s fortified farmhouse and interior courtyard. “Oneta” pays homage to its owners; the Oneta family has been producing wine for generations and still owns the 18th-century buildings. The architectural design and decor leans toward the use of stone, wood, and wrought iron.
The Resort offers stunning panoramic views and 49 accommodations; all beautifully-furnished, equipped with a multitude of amenities, and a balcony or terrace. A swimming pool, solarium, outdoor fitness area, concierge, and 24-hour reception service is at your disposal on the premises. Conference rooms and private functions can be booked for a maximum of 400 guests. Several beaches are easily accessible via a shuttle service and the area nearby offers golf, hiking, and horseback riding.
The property is part of a small wine estate that still produces wines for use in the hotel. Ask about their wine tastings which are held in the historic wine cellar – a great setting for sipping and selfies amid the barrels and antique work tools.
For an all-round Sicilian, dine on-site at La Calandra. In the summer, lunch is served on the panoramic Terrace of Venus overlooking the sea, the islands, and famous Mount Erice where the Castle of Venus rises. For dinner the historic courtyard’s lush garden is available. The culinary theme revolves around Italian, classic Sicilian and Mediterranean, to satisfy your taste buds!
- Editor’s Note: By Nancy Radlauer, Editor.Inboundmagazine@gmail.com; Baglio Oneto is strategically located between Trapani and Palermo. Expect unparalleled service and irresistible Sicilian charm. Ask for a tour of the wine cellar and dine under the stars. I stayed 2 nights and it was a memorable experience!
