Nathaniel Russell House Museum • Charleston

See the opulence of early Charleston in the heart of downtown. A National Historic Landmark, the Nathaniel Russell House Museum was built over a five-year period and completed in 1808 by Charleston merchant Nathaniel Russell. This historic home is best known for its magnificent spiraling staircase, detailed furnishings and landscaped gardens. Half an hour tours are docent-led every 30 minutes. During the tour, you’ll learn about the Russell family and the slaves who cared for the home.
