MAYA Eatery • Charleston

Maya – A Regionally-Inspired Mexican Eatery!
From the award-winning Indigo Road Hospitality Group, this new restaurant brings bold flavors and vibrant themes to lively Upper King Street. Born from the love of Mexico’s coastal region, Maya’s breezy interiors (pottery pendant lighting, palm fronds, cascading greenery), flavorful bites, and tropical cocktails offer a resort-inspired retreat from the everyday. The open-air patio offers front row access to live music, open-fire cooking demos and more!
.
An alumnus of NYC’s Michelin-starred Claro, Executive Chef Brett Riley captures Mexico’s unique regional landscapes through an inspired and curated menu featuring shareable ‘antojitos’ starters – ‘platos fuertes’ composed plates, as well as ‘a lado’ side dishes. The in-house masa program utilizes a traditional nixtamalization process and corn sourced from Mexico to produce fresh tortillas, chips, and tostadas for the selection of classic and reimagined Mexican dishes with hints of coastal influence.
.
Menu standouts include Esquites (Fresh Corn, Ancho Chile Mayo, Serrano Chile, Epazote, Cotija Cheese); Duck Carnitas Taco (Confit Duck, Guac Taquero, Escabeche, Chicharron); and Gobernador (Chipotle Shrimp, Poblano Chile Rajas, Red Onion,  Cilantro quesadilla). Plant-based and vegetarian offerings are available.
.
Spirit-forward cocktails—available on tap, frozen, and handcrafted—are brought to life with authentic Mexican ingredients – Spanish Vanilla, Morita Chiles, Tamarind, and Sotol. Try specialty libations: Hotel Oaxaca (Mezcal, White Flowers, Pineapple, Lime, Peach) or Pajarito (Rum, Saffron, Smoke, Cinnamon, Lime, Passion Fruit, Absinthe). There is also a selection of worldly wines, Mexican cervezas, and spirit-free mocktails.
.
Inspired by the Mexican coastline where the jungle meets the sea, good times and positive vibes await guests at Maya.
