Joséphine Wine Bar • Charleston

The name “Joséphine” is inspired by Empress Joséphine de Beauharnais, the first wife of Napoleon Bonaparte, who is said to have possessed the best wines of her time. Located in the Cannonborough-Elliotborough neighborhood, Joséphine Wine Bar is a chef-driven, modern French bar and bistro.

Joséphine focuses heavily on wines from France and features Parisian-inspired dishes such as Black Pepper Whipped Fromage de Vache; Chicken a la Plancha; and Fromage Frais with canary melon, cucumber, black mission figs.

Executive Chef Shaun Connolly is joined by wine director and advanced sommelier Ashley Broshious, whose wine list features both classic and edgy vintages, including 20 by-the-glass options. The bar will reflect Joséphine’s chic but relaxed vibe, with a black, white, and gold color scheme and paintings by local artists.
