No matter where people go when visiting Boston, feasting on the freshest seafood is usually at the top of their ‘to do’ list. Aside from that, Mooncusser Fish House is sibling to the acclaimed 80 Thoreau located in Concord, Mass. In July 2017, Mooncusser was opened by Ian Calhoun, Vincent Vela, and chef Carolyn Johnson. The restaurant’s name is in reference to Calhoun’s Cape Cod childhood, spent on Mooncusser Lane in East Dennis.
The restaurant’s focus is on the freshest variety of sustainable fish, served many different ways. The striped bass Crudo is delicious – with pistachio dukkah, pickled orange zest, ramp, and fennel oil – or try out Mooncusser’s whole-wheat tagliatelle – fresh mussels, summer squash, basil, arugula, and pine nuts. They’re both a sure bet for discerning diners.
