Ember, Brad Kilgore’s American bistro in Miami’s Design District, features a menu packed with fire-roasted creations with intense tastes and spices. He’s also well known for his award-winning Alter restaurant in Wynwood. In 2019 Kilgore became a five-time James Beard Award Semifinalist. Here he focuses on classic and modern fare, such as smoky meats, pastas and shareable sides.

Best bet: the Fire-Roasted Lasagna, a cheesy dish that could have just been made on a campfire. The Smoked Fried Chicken is a great combo of barbecued and deep-fried. Of course, guests must try the steak— and Ember’s got grass-fed New York strips.
