Saratoga Race Course • Saratoga Springs, NY

Saratoga Race Course is often considered to be the oldest major sporting venue of any kind in the country, having opened in 1863. Already famous for its mineral baths, Saratoga held the first thoroughbred meet just one month after the Battle of Gettysburg. The four-day meet drew thousands of locals and tourists alike, deeming it a huge success.

Today the motto “Health, History, and Horses,” comes to life every day at the races. Saratoga Race Course offers a visit filled with numerous food vendors, shopping tents, picnic tables, a child’s playground and hope for a winning ticket.
